Every month we explore the dances of a different nation. In September, our special guests will be the Folklórny Súbor Lipa SCIO dancers, who will delight us with a short performance before teaching an authentic Slovak dance. Live music will be provided by Chris Lyons – a multi-genre musician, composer, and virtuoso of numerous instruments, from piano and guitar to violin, oud, and bayan. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London Chris is renowned for his versatility, artistry, and leadership of Balkan brass ensembles in Scotland.

Calm and Harmony in the Rhythm of Nature

A SENSE OF CALM offers a moment of pause amidst the bustle of city life, inviting visitors into a slower, elemental space of deep immersion. British–Hungarian artist Laura Medcalf creates her works at the meeting point of land and open water, using sunlight, earth, and natural materials to form unique, unrepeatable textures.

These are not depictions of landscapes, but physical impressions born from a meditative collaboration with rivers, lakes, seas, and the natural forces that shape them. Presented as part of the London Design Festival, A SENSE OF CALM invites reflection, renewal, and a deeper connection with nature.
The exhibition is open from 12 September to 20 October 2025, Monday to Friday, 11:00–19:00.

Here comes our third Havervagy party in London!

The spirit of making friends is spreading in London faster than we ever expected – and we’re super proud of it. So we’re keeping the momentum going! By the second party we had already outgrown Bar Kicks; last time we couldn’t even all fit in one space. Life has brought us to a new venue in Stratford, where there’s more room, easier access – and even more PARTY after the icebreaker. Yes, the “No-Clicks” Icebreaker Party is back (and in autumn we’ll bring more of our friendship-building programs too). The new venue is exciting, but what really matters is the socialising – connecting cool Hungarians with other Hungarians. And after the icebreaker, if all goes well, the evening may just turn into a big Hungarian-style house party! So what’s this No-Clicks Party about? Everyone (including you!) is randomly assigned to a four-person table. You’ve got 30 minutes to chat and get to know your group. Then we reshuffle – new table, new faces. We repeat this 3–4 times!

School Opening Ceremony and First Day of Classes

At the Hungarian School in Cambridge, more than 140 children and adults study in 9 classes, supported by 30 enthusiastic teachers and helpers. Before and after school lessons, extra programmes await: folk dance, speech therapy, fairy-tale yoga, poetry recitation club, teqball and sports. We even have an adult zither ensemble, where we can make music together either online or in person. Trial Day & First Day of Classes

We warmley welcom eeveryone who would like to get to know our school and try it out. Our school activities are currently divided into 8 groups according to age (0–16 years). Following a structured curriculum, we teach children Hungarian reading, writing, culture, and heritage. We aim to support the development of Hungarian national identity in the younger generations, passing on to them the joy and value of keeping Hungarian traditions alive. During our preschool and school classes, we introduce and playfully teach as many Hungarian folk customs, folk songs, games, fairy tales, and literary works as possible. This way, children naturally absorb knowledge, enrich their vocabulary, and grow up surrounded by Hungarian culture. When selecting teaching materials, we take into account the children’s age, interests, and needs. Through playful learning, we develop their language skills while also encouraging them to actively participate in community life together with peers who share a similar cultural background.

Romance and Lyrical Melodies in the Heart of Cardiff

Under the baton of Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales will perform a program of romantic and lyrical works at BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff, at 7:30 PM. The concert opens with Schumann’s festive and lively Four Marches (arranged by Donal Bannister), followed by Gerald Finzi’s deeply expressive, elegant, and intimate Clarinet Concerto in C minor, featuring soloist Nicholas Carpenter. Puccini’s Tosca Conducted by a Hungarian Maestro in Cardiff

Sport Community in Rochester

ABC Sportclub is a dynamic community offering tennis, basketball, and floorball training, along with a weekend school for Hungarian and Romanian children living in the UK. The sessions are led by a highly qualified coach who has worked with national athletes and has himself competed in gymnastics and tennis. He has also been voted “Best Teacher” multiple times by the students of Váci Boronkay Gymnasium. The aim of these sessions is to build a solid foundation of sporting skills and abilities for children, while providing joyful and active experiences. This type of training reduces the risk of injuries, improves overall wellbeing, and supports faster progress in other sports as well.

Spiritual Enrichment in Edinburgh

Since 2017, we have been meeting regularly to study the Holy Scriptures together and to learn about God’s will for our lives. We hold special worship services on Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and the Reformation Memorial Day. Additionally, twice a year we come together for a silent retreat weekend, where guest pastors from Hungary lead our services.
