Zen-Buddhist Meditation Sessions in London

Connecting Mind, Body, and Community Through Meditation

The Form Scratch Studio was founded in 2024 with the goal of creating creative and self-discovery communities in London. We believe that artistic creation and collaborative work are not only sources of joy but also opportunities for self-expression and personal growth.

We warmly welcome everyone who is open to Zen-Buddhist practices.
During these sessions, we connect with ourselves and with each other. The exercises create a peaceful and supportive space, where everyone can experience the calming and focusing power of meditation.

No prior experience is needed – just bring your openness and curiosity. There is no music during the session, and we usually sit on cushions, though chairs are available for beginners.

Hungarian Folkdance Workshop for Children - Csillagszeműek

Hungarian Folk Dance Workshop for Children Aged 3–14

We organise classes at several locations in London, as well as in Surrey and Hampshire. Our Guildford and South London groups rehearse weekly. In addition, we offer regular folk dance lessons at several weekend Hungarian schools: Mosoly Hungarian Nursery & School, Woking Hungarian School, and Southampton Hungarian School.

As the UK representative of the Csillagszemű Dance Ensemble (Hungary), our teaching is based on the unique Timár Method. Alongside dancing, our sessions also include conversations about Hungarian holidays, special occasions, and related folk traditions. We explore traditional costumes, and of course, we play and sing a lot together.

In addition to weekly folk dance classes, we organise quarterly dance houses and workshops, which children who do not attend Hungarian schools or who live further away can also join. The children have the opportunity to present their knowledge to their parents, and those who dance regularly are also given the chance to perform on stage.

A Literary Stand-up about the Friendship of Sándor Petőfi and János Arany

“I send my soul to the author of Toldi!”
A performance by Péter Lóránt Tóth, the “wandering poet”

In this programme, created at the request of the Petőfi Birthplace and Memorial Museum in Kiskőrös, letters, poems, recollections, and legendary stories transport the audience back to one of the shortest yet deepest friendships in Hungarian literature.

Humour and thoughts that still resonate today about poetry, “the making of verses,” love, mutual respect, and patriotism. Their relationship—marked by mutual esteem and recognition, yet also enriched with friendly banter and playfulness—conveys a broader message to people today: that two individuals of completely different temperaments, worldviews, and interests were able to find a connection and common ground with each other.

Dublin Iskola Óvoda

In Ireland

In September 2015, we opened our doors to the children of Hungarian families living in Dublin and the surrounding area. At our school and kindergarten, children are cared for by qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic teachers.

Among the principles of DIÓ is fostering active readers, and our goal is also to encourage children to become active theater-goers. To this end, we take steps within our means. Our aim is for children to learn to speak, write, and read Hungarian correctly, and to learn through play while experiencing our traditions.

Our program, in addition to teaching the Hungarian language and literature, includes providing basic knowledge of history, local heritage, and the environment.

Hungarian School Woking

Trial Day & First Day of Classes

We warmley welcome everyone who would like to get to know our school and try it out. Our school activities are currently divided into 8 groups according to age (0–16 years). Following a structured curriculum, we teach children Hungarian reading, writing, culture, and heritage. We aim to support the development of Hungarian national identity in the younger generations, passing on to them the joy and value of keeping Hungarian traditions alive. During our preschool and school classes, we introduce and playfully teach as many Hungarian folk customs, folk songs, games, fairy tales, and literary works as possible. This way, children naturally absorb knowledge, enrich their vocabulary, and grow up surrounded by Hungarian culture. When selecting teaching materials, we take into account the children’s age, interests, and needs. Through playful learning, we develop their language skills while also encouraging them to actively participate in community life together with peers who share a similar cultural background.

The Magic Cube – Theatre Evening in Edinburgh

Organised by Backstage Art Club

"They say friends are the family we choose. And it’s no coincidence—true friends, just like our family, walk with us through life.
Mischief, moving house, Friday night poker games, low points, marriage, divorce, children—they hold your hand and give you support.

But what makes a friendship real? And over the years, what do these friendships become?
In our play The Magic Cube, six childhood friends search for the answers to these questions.
