Anett Kormos Stand-up Show in Edinburgh
Organised by Backstage Art Club
"A woman is a relative being; she is not defined in relation to herself, but in relation to a man. A woman is what a man’s judgment makes of her." – this thought was recorded in 1949, but it clearly stems from ancient times, and even today, people still tie the dog to this stake.
Thus, if the verdict comes down that women have no sense of humor, then we simply don’t. And that’s that.
Our intellectual abilities are mostly considered inferior to men’s—often attributed to our hair color (and the inability to grasp the rules of Les), we routinely complain about childbirth compared to the minor torture of a prostate exam, we call household chores “work,” we sulk for years if someone points out our possible extra pounds, we are deemed unfit to drive, and we are prone to overreacting to little things like earning less or being slightly jostled on the subway.
Because if we had humor… perhaps life with us would be bearable despite all this… but we don’t…
And that’s what we’ll cry about together. Crying is allowed… at least, that’s what I’ve heard. Our performance is recommended for audiences aged 18 and over!

Hungarian Folkdance Workshop for Children - Csillagszeműek
Hungarian Folk Dance Workshop for Children Aged 3–14
We organise classes at several locations in London, as well as in Surrey and Hampshire. Our Guildford and South London groups rehearse weekly. In addition, we offer regular folk dance lessons at several weekend Hungarian schools: Mosoly Hungarian Nursery & School, Woking Hungarian School, and Southampton Hungarian School.
As the UK representative of the Csillagszemű Dance Ensemble (Hungary), our teaching is based on the unique Timár Method. Alongside dancing, our sessions also include conversations about Hungarian holidays, special occasions, and related folk traditions. We explore traditional costumes, and of course, we play and sing a lot together.
In addition to weekly folk dance classes, we organise quarterly dance houses and workshops, which children who do not attend Hungarian schools or who live further away can also join. The children have the opportunity to present their knowledge to their parents, and those who dance regularly are also given the chance to perform on stage.

These are not depictions of landscapes, but physical impressions born from a meditative collaboration with rivers, lakes, seas, and the natural forces that shape them. Presented as part of the London Design Festival, A SENSE OF CALM invites reflection, renewal, and a deeper connection with nature. The exhibition is open from 12 September to 20 October 2025, Monday to Friday, 11:00–19:00.
