Dance lovers join us!

Founded in October 2024 from the initiative of one of our dancers, our group is dedicated to introducing people to Hungarian folk dance on a beginner level. Hungarian Folk Dance Workshop for Children Aged 3–14

We organise classes at several locations in London, as well as in Surrey and Hampshire. Our Guildford and South London groups rehearse weekly. In addition, we offer regular folk dance lessons at several weekend Hungarian schools: Mosoly Hungarian Nursery & School, Woking Hungarian School, and Southampton Hungarian School.

As the UK representative of the Csillagszemű Dance Ensemble (Hungary), our teaching is based on the unique Timár Method. Alongside dancing, our sessions also include conversations about Hungarian holidays, special occasions, and related folk traditions. We explore traditional costumes, and of course, we play and sing a lot together.

In addition to weekly folk dance classes, we organise quarterly dance houses and workshops, which children who do not attend Hungarian schools or who live further away can also join. The children have the opportunity to present their knowledge to their parents, and those who dance regularly are also given the chance to perform on stage.

Connecting Mind, Body, and Community Through Meditation

The Form Scratch Studio was founded in 2024 with the goal of creating creative and self-discovery communities in London. We believe that artistic creation and collaborative work are not only sources of joy but also opportunities for self-expression and personal growth. We warmly welcome everyone who is open to Zen-Buddhist practices. During these sessions, we connect with ourselves and with each other. The exercises create a peaceful and supportive space, where everyone can experience the calming and focusing power of meditation. No prior experience is needed – just bring your openness and curiosity. There is no music during the session, and we usually sit on cushions, though chairs are available for beginners.

In Ireland

In September 2015, we opened our doors to the children of Hungarian families living in Dublin and the surrounding area. At our school and kindergarten, children are cared for by qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic teachers. Among the principles of DIÓ is fostering active readers, and our goal is also to encourage children to become active theater-goers. To this end, we take steps within our means. Our aim is for children to learn to speak, write, and read Hungarian correctly, and to learn through play while experiencing our traditions.

Our program, in addition to teaching the Hungarian language and literature, includes providing basic knowledge of history, local heritage, and the environment.

Santa Claus Trip

We warmly welcome everyone who is interested in visiting and trying out our school.. Currently, our school activities are organized into 8 age-appropriate groups (0–16 years). Following a set curriculum, we teach children Hungarian writing, reading, culture, and local heritage. We aim to support the development of Hungarian national identity in the generations growing up here, passing on the joy and value of preserving Hungarian traditions. During kindergarten and school lessons, we strive to introduce as many Hungarian folk customs, songs, games, folktales, and literary works as possible, teaching them in a playful way so that children naturally absorb knowledge, Hungarian culture, and continually expand their vocabulary. When selecting teaching materials, we also consider the children’s age and interests. Through playful methods, we develop language skills and encourage children to actively participate in community life alongside peers with similar cultural backgrounds.

Afterschool Program Activities

Katica Group: From toddlers up to school starters, we welcome the little ones to playful sessions filled with songs, rhymes, and games. Pillangó Group: For children beginning school and in first grade, we gather them together so they can develop their Hungarian language skills in a fun yet purposeful way. Maci Group: For older primary school students, we offer experience-based language development and community-building activities. Our goal is for every age group to find their place and joyfully connect with the Hungarian language, culture, and community.

Spiritual Enrichment in Edinburgh

Since 2017, we have been meeting regularly to study the Holy Scriptures together and to learn about God’s will for our lives.
